Weleda launches gorgeous new colour cosmetics that will make you glow with health
Weleda Tinted Lip Balms

Natural beauty brand Weleda has unveiled three gorgeous new Tinted Lip Balms in the green beauty pioneer’s first foray into colour cosmetics.

Keep it natural

The new NATRUE certified natural balms are designed to bring out the natural beauty of the lips. The protective formulations are available in three flattering shades that use mineral pigments and natural ingredients to provide a subtle hint of colour and shimmer:

Nude – a barely-there tint to leave a natural shimmer on the lips
Rose – a delicate blush pink with an attractive natural rosy-lips shine
Berry red – a sheer raspberry red colour for a ‘just bitten’ berry look

As you’d expect from a skincare expert with nearly a century of expertise, all three balms are good for your lips. They’re made with nourishing cold-pressed plant oils and protective vegetable waxes – and the result is a trio of skin-friendly, vegan-friendly and eco-friendly products that are free from petroleum derivatives.

The glossy balms have a creamy, light texture and spread easily and evenly to leave just a natural hint of colour with no stickiness. Free from parabens and other artificial preservatives, they are ideal for use during pregnancy. To top it off, they’re also gluten free.

What’s inside…

The natural ingredient heroes include skin-smoothing organic jojoba oil produced by Weleda’s long-term farming partners in Argentina, where the fertile orchards are Demeter certified and their own mill ensures sustainable processing and fair working conditions.

There’s also the finest Andalucían organic olive oil to soften lips, plus fair trade organic shea butter and protective vegetable wax made from sunflower seed to lock in moisture.

Thanks to Weleda’s skilful in-house fragrance development team, the deliciously creamy balms are naturally scented with pure essential oils, leaving a waft of delicate rose petals and vanilla on the lips.

The balms come in neat 10ml recyclable tubes that are perfect to pop in a pocket when you’re out and about, or to pack for the plane to protect against drying air-conditioning. The range has been dermatologically tested for suitability even for sensitive lips and atopic skin.

‘Working with colour cosmetics is an exciting new venture for Weleda. In keeping with our brand ethos, we are launching a range that just brings out the natural beauty of our skin rather than creating a masque of artificiality. Increasingly the trend at international fashion shows is for make-up artists to artfully create a fresh ‘no make-up’ look that enhances features in the most minimalist way. This is how we approach the concept of beauty at Weleda – products that help us to glow with health whilst staying individual and authentic.’

The Tinted Lip Balms cost £6.95 from weleda.co.uk and are available exclusively from Whole Foods Market before launching nationwide this summer.

Fashion Week favourites

The new Tinted Lip Balms featured backstage this February at London Fashion Week as part of the make-up look for designer Paula Knorr, specially selected by make-up designer Martina Lattanzi.

‘I’m so pleased Weleda has ventured into colour, these new tinted lip balms are lovely. They feel great on the lips and leave them nourished and smooth, with no sticky residue. With just hints of colour to enhance the natural lip, all three tints are super easy and flattering to wear. Berry Red is my current favourite!’

The balms were included in the gorgeous Weleda goody bag given to LFW models in The Model Zone during fashion week.

‘These three lip balms from Weleda are simply beautiful, they glide on with ease making lips feel and look smooth and hydrated with a sheer hint of colour, perfect for those ‘no makeup’ makeup looks. You can even dab them on the upper cheekbone as a gorgeous dewy highlighter. Or layer them on top of a lip stain or lipstick for added shimmer. A must for any makeup artist kit.’
