The Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) has announced the third episode from the second series of its podcast, The Sustainable Conversation, is a special edition featuring Jennifer Graham, aka Charity Shop Girl.

The new series presents another opportunity to promote sustainable fashion and discuss social and environmental justice topics.

Promoting secondhand fashion

Charity Shop Girl is a trusted voice for charity retail; she uses her social channels and media presence to help remove the stigma associated with charity shopping and promote secondhand fashion.

Jennifer has previously championed the work of The Salvation Army by taking part in its national clothing bank campaign to encourage the public to make donations of their used textiles and give these items a new lease of life.

She has also spent some time visiting The Salvation Army Chesterfield donation centre.

Her visit to the donation centre helped to raise awareness of these community hubs that are helping to raise vital funds for charity.

Driving lasting change

The SATCoL podcast, hosted by Elle editor Naomi May, enables the trading arm of the charity to increase its social engagement with a much-needed sustainable conversation to drive lasting change.

Other guests over the six-part series include philanthropist and DJ Cuppy; Lucy Kebbell, founder of The Vendeur; fashion stylist Kelvin Barron; actress Kara Tointon, who has starred in hit shows including Eastenders (BBC), ITV’s Mr Selfridge and ITV’s four-part Cary Grant biopic, Archie.

Also taking part in the discussions is Britain’s Next Top Model winner and Mecia Simson, actress from the hit Netflix series The Witcher, also joins the conversation.

Sustainable fashion writer and creator Besma Whayeb and award-winning fashion stylist Rebekah Roy join the panel, plus Salvation Army Take Back Scheme brand partner Oh Polly, and Kirk Bradley, SATCoL’s head of corporate partnerships discuss their partnership and accessible ways to donate your used items.

Diverting clothes from landfill

The Salvation Army Trading Company has received industry-wide recognition for its efforts to help brands and retailers meet their sustainability goals, and the podcast encourages the public to take part in diverting more items away from disposal and secondhand shopping.

The Sustainable Conversation podcast featuring special guests is available on Apple, Spotify, YouTube and SATCoL TV.
