2024 was another big year for the environment; global leaders convened in Azerbaijan for COP29 after news hit that globally, we’d just had the hottest summer on record for the second year in a row.

6. Biodegradable fishing nets

This piece, published on My Green Pod five years ago, shares details of a then-new project called Innovative Fishing Gear for Oceans (INdIGO), which was launched to develop a completely biodegradable fishing net with a controlled lifespan. The nets biodegrade into natural materials within two years, not into smaller bits of plastic causing further pollution.

10. Rights to allotments

12/10/2023

This article covers the 30m-long living artwork unfurled and displayed at Westminster by artists and allotmenteers. It came with a call for the government to enable people to exercise their rights to allotments as part of the solution to food insecurity, the cost of living crisis and the climate and nature emergency.
