Weleda, Little Butterfly London, Organii, Pleni Naturals, MooGoo, Lovekins, Bramley’s Little B range, Kokoso Baby and Little Freddie are among the top natural and organic winners at the eighth Beauty Shortlist Mama & Baby Awards.

The awards highlight outstanding all-natural baby, pregnancy, beauty, self-care, wellness and eco home products – from aromatherapy-infused stretch mark/body oils and plant-powered skincare to award-winning maternity gifts, baby wraps and portable nap mats.

5 Key Trends at this year’s Mama & Baby Awards

1. Multi-tasking heroes

Highly effective multipurpose phyto balms and SOS creams formulated to soothe everything from nappy rash to insect bites, mild sunburn, sore nipples and eczema scored high marks this year.

Examples include Lovekins SOS Rescue Cream, Bramley Little B Magic Balm, Skin Juice Green Juice Skin Rescue Balm, Pod Organics Sweet Pea & Me All Over Balm and Lyonsleaf Zinc & Calendula Balm.

Lavender and Calendula were two of the most popular plant extracts in this year’s babycare entries, featuring heavily in Matchstick Monkey’s SOS Balm, produced by The Organic Pharmacy, and Weleda’s Calendula Baby Body Lotion.

2. Luxe self-care treats

Two-in-one stretch mark and body oils infused with scar-diminishing rosehip oil, calming lavender and fragrant fruits like plum, raspberry and mandarin scored top marks.

Examples include ASYVA’s Plum + Raspberry Body Oil and EarthZest’s Frankincense, Rose Geranium, Green Mandarin and Lavender Mummy’s Tummy Bump Oil.

3. Reusable essentials

This year it was out with single-use items and in with washable reusables around the home, like Little Gubbins Reusable Bamboo Baby Washcloths and Vesta Living Reusable Cloth Wipes.

4. Zero landfill

Premium organic baby food Mama & Baby Awards winner Little Freddie (Best Baby Food Brand, Best Eco Product, Best Healthy Snack, Best Recyclable Product) is helping to turn the tide on plastic waste with its ‘end goal: zero landfill’  food pouch recycling initiative with eco partner Enval.

Enval’s unique technology recycles each component of the pouch into materials that can be recirculated and reused, reducing the carbon footprint for disposing of baby food pouches by over 90% compared with usual disposal methods.

Little Freddie is the first brand in the UK to offer this ‘zero-waste-to-landfill’ recycling programme

5. Mummy’s helpers

Top products in the practical solution categories include Stars & Snuggles Apron Baby Bath Towel, a ‘snuggle dry’, hands-free, extra-large apron style soft bamboo and cotton towel for parents.

Bloomsbury Mill Nap Mat is an affordable, all-in-one, portable, easy roll-up soft pillow/blanket/mat in three different designs: grey and white stars, pink magic unicorn and multi-coloured safari adventure animals. It’s ideal for travel, camping or sleepovers.

Stars & Snuggles Baby Star Travel Wrap is a super-soft all-in-one wearable baby wrap with hoodie. It has been crash-tested for car travel, and is suitable for a three- or five-point harness. It has no buttons or zips, meaning there’s no need to undress a sleeping baby if you need to move between indoor and outside, pram, buggy, car seat or bouncer.
