Here’s a novel way to get great deals on ethical gifts – from organic hampers to meals at Wahaca and River Cottage
A crowdfunding campaign to celebrate family farmers around the world has joined forces with some of our favourite ethical companies to give away gorgeous ‘rewards’ that would make perfect gifts for Christmas.
If you back We Feed the World before 11 December, you’ll receive a reward worth more than the sum you pledge in time for Christmas. The campaign benefits, you get to feel good and someone special will be very happy on Christmas day!
A full list of the rewards is available on the We Feed the World crowdfunding page.
£40: Neal’s Yard gift
Pledge £40 to We Feed the World and you’ll receive a full-size gift pack from Neal’s Yard’s Bee Lovely range. The hamper, which would cost £58 under normal circumstances, contains Bee Lovely Hand Cream, Hand Wash, Body Lotion and Bath & Shower Gel – all made using nourishing beeswax, moisturising organic honey and natural essential oils.
£45: organic goodies
A £45 boost to We Feed the World will get you an organic goodie box crammed with delicious and indulgent products worth, well, a lot more than £45! Jo Wood Organics, Pukka teas, Organico, Rude Health, River Cottage, Belvoir Drinks, Conscious Chocolate and Riverford have all donated products to this gorgeous ‘reward’, which would make an incredible Christmas present for anyone who enjoys the finer things in life!
£50: 36 Pukka teas
A year’s supply of Pukka tea, for a £50 pledge! You’ll bag all 36 of Pukka’s incredible organic teas – that’s two cups a day for the next 12 months. Enjoy everything from english breakfast and earl grey to chai, supreme matcha green and chamomile, vanilla and manuka – all sourced from farmers around the world.
£75: River Cottage meal
Those pledging £75 to We Feed the World will be able to enjoy a meal for two at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen in Bristol – guaranteed to be a great night out, and a bargain for £75!
We Feed the World is looking for £160,000 to fund a photographic campaign – led by 30 award-winning photographers – to showcase the positive impact sustainable agriculture has on our health, environment, culture and society.
For the first time, some of the top names in photography – including fashion photographer Rankin, award-winning British photographers Marcus Bleasdale and Jane Hilton, Magnum photographers Alec Soth, Jim Goldberg and Alessandra Sanguinetti and celebrated Brazilian photojournalist Sebastaio Selgado – have united to capture images of the family farmers around the world who are responsible for feeding over 70% of the global population.
Farmers before profit!
Your money will help help turn this campaign into a large-scale touring exhibition, and fund the book and a behind-the-scenes film that will feature interviews with the photographers and the farmers. All the profits made by the project will go back to the farmers through the organisations that work with them on the ground.
‘We Feed the World is an amazing opportunity for everyone in this country to engage with a healthier, more climate-friendly and more democratic food system. We have to speak out against the giant monopolies and government policies that are currently trying to dominate the food that we eat.
‘Farmers must come before Profit! The Earth is not dispensable! Lets use the power of social media to share this campaign with as many people as we can and start a revolution in our food supply.’
