An infographic created by EurActiv, a website that shares news on EU affairs, reveals the facts and figures behind the state of organic farming in Europe.

It shows that the EU’s use of organic agricultural land has almost doubled in recent years; Europe now has 27% of the world’s organic agricultural land, while North America has just 7%.

Austria, Sweden and Estonia have the highest proportion of organically farmed land in Europe, with 19%, 17% and 16%, respectively.

EU citizens are also increasing their demand for organic products, with Germans, French and British the biggest consumers.
