Candle wax is not classed as recyclable material; as a result, tonnes of candle wax – from hotels, restaurants, pubs and even cathedrals – ends up in landfill every year.
The Recycled Candle Co is trying to stop this flow by offering to collect scrap candle wax and take it away to be recycled. By filtering and purifying these remnants and then scenting them with the company’s unique blends, the wax is given a new lease of life in a luxury candle.
As part of its pop-up shop, ‘Reclaim Luxury’, at 67 York Street, Marylebone, The Recycled Candle Co is calling on individuals, hotels, restaurants, pubs and collective places of worship to join its #CandleAmnesty campaign by donating their candle leftovers to the company.
The wax will be recycled into beautiful new candles and diverted from landfill sites across the UK.
Until 23 June 2018 only, scrap wax can be left directly with the company at 67 York Street, Marylebone, London W1H 1QB. All types of candle wax including paraffin, soy and beeswax will be accepted.
All those who donate during trading hours will receive a special ‘thank you’ code to use in-store or online, with the first 50 also receiving a 9cl Glass votive (worth £9.50) featuring one of The Recycled Candle Co.’s unique blended fragrances.
The company’s current fragrances include Ginger & Lime, Bitter Orange & Ylang, Winter Spice, White Jasmine & Mint, Lavender & Rocksalt, Rose & Oud and Lily of the Valley, with a new fragrance ‘Watercolour’ available
from September 2018.
The Reclaim Luxury pop-up is an opportunity to buy The Recycled Candle Co.’s 100% recycled wax candles, which are made in a studio in Ottery St. Mary, Devon. Each candle is hand poured twice to ensure a long, consistent and quality burn.
The company’s eco commitment extends across the business, which has a Zero-Waste, Zero-To-Landfill, Zero Plastic policy.
