Visit Natives

The ethical way to immerse yourself in indigenous cultures

Olopiro from Visit Natives in Ngorongoro
  • Travel deeper and immerse yourself in rich and fascinating indigenous cultures.
  • Create unique memories. Attend ceremonies, join feasts, and observe rituals that an average tourist can’t see.
  • Reconnect yourself to nature. Sleep in the wild and enjoy bush walks. Expand your knowledge on sustainable living and environmental healing. Make a positive impact. With every booking, one indigenous family gets health insurance.
  • Travel with purpose. The mission is to preserve indigenous cultures through small-scale sustainable tourism.

Visit Natives is a travel agency that’s making positive change – it supports and embraces indigenous languages, cultures, beliefs and knowledge systems.

The company was founded in 2017 by Anniina Sandberg. Anniina’s life journey took her to Tanzania, where she lived among the Maasai while she conducted her anthropological fieldwork for one year.

By founding Visit Natives, she wanted outsiders to feel welcomed and at home and to experience indigenous traditions, feasts and a taste of the real wilderness, that you can’t experience on a package holiday or from a hotel.

Visit Natives allows everyone to immerse themselves in the local culture and traditions of the indigenous people. You can herd cattle together with the Maasai warriors, join a Sami family on reindeer spring migration or observe how the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers harvest wild honey from giant Baobab trees. Prepare yourself for a real adventure of a lifetime!

These are one-of-a-kind experiences. Visit Natives connects adventurous and open-minded travellers with the indigenous people and their rich livelihoods in the most beautiful wilderness and conservation areas in the world.

You’ll get closer to nature than ever before. You’ll explore remote regions, sleep in a hut or in a tent, eat local food and stay with your indigenous hosts, who will open the door to their homes and culture.

You can observe and participate in traditions and rituals that an average traveller can’t see. With Visit Natives you are a guest, not a tourist. You will travel deeper and with a purpose – and have something to remember for the rest of your life.
