‘In 10 years of cutting through the greenwash to share the beauty products genuinely worth investing in, this year’s awards have emerged as the biggest and most diverse to date.
‘More than ever, today’s discerning beauty buyers are looking behind the labels for brands that are clean, green and particularly planet-friendly, with eco and “less is more” packaging coming to the forefront. The awards are fiercely independent and unbiased, which means the products the judges love the most emerge organically as the ultimate winners.’

Launched 10 years ago by beauty writer and respected natural living expert Fiona Klonarides, The Beauty Shortlist Wellbeing Awards are a 100% independent guide to shopping the best in beauty and natural health.
Each year the awards are judged by a panel of unbiased industry experts with no sponsorship or advertising to sway their decisions.
This unique, transparent approach – with an intrinsic focus on ‘natural, eco and ethical’ – attracts entries from across the world, creating a uniquely level playing field for both big and small brands.
Trialling the products provided this year’s judges with a deep-dive into trends for 2020. Here are five to watch out for.
1. CBD self-care
The CBD trend is accelerating. From Love Hemp’s Dark Chocolate CBD-infused Chocolate Balls to HuGG’s CBD Bath Salts, brands are launching cannabis-inspired choices to help us chill more – socially or at home.
2. Sustainable, stylish packaging
Brands have got the message there’s no planet B, and they’re putting sustainability first. Initiatives include Scence Natural Skincare’s beautiful paper ‘jars’ and REN’s collaboration with recycling experts TerraCycle.
3. Anti-anxiety sleep saviours
Formulators are working hard to put anxiety to bed with a raft of sleep-savvy products like relaxing supplements, pillow sprays and more. 2020 picks include Micheline Arcier, Tisserand, Bach Remedies, Gaia Spa and Hello Day.
4. Weekend wonders
OKOKO Cosmetiques’ Multipurpose Radiance Balm and Lumity’s 4-in1 Cleanser were among the winners offering nourishing glow-ups perfect for weekend getaways. Hard-working multi-purpose balms and masks really made their presence felt.
5. Innovative ingredients
Two hero ingredients shone through the shortlist for 2020. Snow Mushroom provided an ultra-moisturising edge to winners like Eminence Organics’ Moisture Cloud Eye Cream, while Nigella Seed Oil graduated from store cupboard to skincare in nourishing face oils.
‘Wellness and the natural/organic factor are two major current players in beauty and it’s encouraging to see brands big and small find breakthroughs, from plastic-free packaging to luxe self-care.
‘One thing that came through very powerfully is that brands understand people are feeling increasingly anxious and stressed-out by the pace and complexity of modern life. They’ve doubled-down on exciting formulations and new formats to soothe stress and improve how we feel.’
