Home » The UK’s top 12 vegan sweet treats
The number of British vegans has topped half a million, meaning the market for plant-based meals, snacks and desserts is at an all-time high. That’s why PETA has created a list of the top 12 vegan sweet treats across the UK.
London-based ice cream parlour Yorica! offers dairy-free ice cream, frozen yoghurt, shakes and waffles. Its flavours include Rainbow Candy, Cookies and Cream, Gooey Vanilla Brownie and Banoffee. There’s also a variety of tasty toppings and fresh fruit sauces.
ASK Italian, the popular UK chain, serves a range of vegan desserts, including a zesty dark chocolate tart with a nut and date base, served with tangy raspberry sorbet.
Soya-milk shakes aren’t in short supply at nationwide chain Shakeaway – its delicious vegan options include Oreo, After Eight and Turkish Delight flavours. Additional toppings include Starburst, Skittles and Maoam Stripes.
‘From ice cream parlours to doughnut shops, all our winners make it possible to indulge your sweet tooth while also being sweet to animals. As all the compassionate eateries on PETA’s list prove, choosing vegan treats today is a piece of cake.’

PETA Director
Rounding off PETA’s list are Vx in Bristol, The Lady Luck in Canterbury, Science Cream in Cardiff, The Caffeine Drip in Edinburgh, Rabbit in Exeter, Our Kitchen in Liverpool, Ice Shack in Manchester, Doughnotts in Nottingham and Luna Rossa in Sheffield. Each winner will receive a framed certificate.
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that ‘animals are not ours to eat or abuse in any other way’ – notes that the consumption of eggs and dairy foods, which are high in cholesterol and saturated fat, contributes to the UK’s obesity epidemic, which is linked to many of the country’s top killers, including heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and cancer.
Not only are plant-based meals better for our health and the planet – since animal agriculture is one of the biggest contributors to climate change – they also spare millions of animals the horrors of factory farms every year.
