Firespiral Slings’ woven baby wraps come in two different weave structures.
The Alchemy weave wraps are luxurious, using a looser weave for the ultimate in softness, mouldability and cush for an amazing wrapping experience. The Elements weave wraps use a tighter weave and are more of a workhorse; they provide great support but require a little breaking in to reach their optimum softness.
Sourcing locally is extremely important to Tamsin and Jen, and they feel lucky to have been able to find all that they need for Firespiral Slings so close to home. The local weaving mill at the edge of the West Pennine Moors, an area with a wonderful weaving heritage, has a wealth of experience in creating high-quality bespoke fabrics from natural fibres.
The designs are inspired by universal patterns in Nature that stray into both science and myth: the magical way in which we are connected to the world and its rhythms. Tamsin and Jen live at the edge of the West Pennine Moors, surrounded by stone circles, local legend and the wild beauty of the hillside, with the shadows of the cotton mills in the valley below. They feel a real sense of belonging to the ancient landscape and it is from this wonderful place that their inspiration takes shape.
Some of their designs are an exploration of naturally occurring patterns, and others could be more accurately described as ‘story cloths’. Either way, they want their woven wraps to be both artistically beautiful and to take on deeper personal meanings for their wearers.
