Slange Var is Gaelic for ‘Cheers, to your health’. It was created when the company founders, Sarah and Charles, were cutting back on wine and wanted a luxurious drink they could sip slowly. It contains fresh lime juice, cold pressed ginger juice, cider vinegar and a hint of Scottish honey to provide a velvety after-taste.
In 2016 we took a poster stand at the Scotland Food and Drink show in Glasgow and gave samples to restauranteurs, mixologists and hoteliers. When asked, ‘should we give up our day jobs for this?’ their answer was a clear ‘Yes’.
Customer feedback has been excellent and in 2019 we won a silver medal at the International SIP awards in San Francisco.
Slange Var is involved in seed planting campaigns with Trees for life and Glasgow Council’s Eco-Diversity group as we donate seeds for trees and flowers whose nectar feeds endangered pollinators such as bees, butterflies and birds. Customers receive regular updates through our website.
We’ll soon be launching a Smart Phone app that will provide customers with details of our product provenance, quality control processes, code of ethics and environmental projects.
